My experience as a hair stylist began when I was 16 years old , a 10th grader in high school. When my high school counselor asked me what I would like to do as a profession when I grow up, my response was an actress, model, hair stylist and makeup artist. My response startled him and he got me a job at Mearle Norman and Sandra’s Salon of Beauty since where they did hair and make-up.
When I was in the 11th grade, I worked at Gabrielle’s Beauty Salon until I graduated from Tacoma Academy of Hair Design. In 1984, I received my license.
I have also modeled with Talented Productions, a Seattle /Tacoma modeling and entertainment troupe. We designed the clothes and did all the hair and makeup within the group.
I have held a license in Washington, Alaska, Tennessee, North Carolina, and California. My multicultural hair experience includes Blacks, Whites, Asians, Hispanics, and Indians. I graduated Dudley’s in 1997. Also trained by Paul Mitchell, Sebastian and Redken.
A little while ago, I began my association with Avlon as a model. Now I am an Avlon Technician. As a technician I am responsible for educating stylists about the Avlon line of products.
I am currently enrolled in school to further education, and improve my skills and abilities. At the present I am majoring in Theatre and Speech.
I have also pursued some on-screen actions including being a hair stylist for a Kia commercial. I have also done hair and make-up for numerous fashion shows, hair shows, weddings and photo shoots. I’m currently the hair and makeup artist for International Creative Artists.
I believe the foundation for beauty starts with good hygiene, eating wholesome foods, exercising regularly, having plenty of rest, drinking lots of water, and above all maintaining an overall peace of mind.
